Mission

To continue the legacy of Chief and Calla Bell by providing financial support so children discover the richness of the outdoors, form enduring friendships and develop confidence and maturity through the unique experience of summer camp.

Programs

Summers spent at camp afford children the chance to work hard and earn the reward of personal satisfaction and accomplishment without trophies or medals. Providing such opportunities to young people, regardless of their socioeconomic status, also allows them to learn about and engage with the natural environment. In a world where people are rarely without a device in-hand, summer camp provides one of the best opportunities for children to unplug. In the last year, C+CBSF has focused on expanding our reach through partnerships with specific camps aimed at growing our donor base. This outreach yeilded the Foundations first six-figure commitment and other philanthropic gifts from first-time donors, as well as increased engagement on social media and in-person events in two cities, which raised the foundations profile among key stakeholders.

The true measure of our effectiveness is reflected in the testimonials we have received from scholarship recipients, both parents and campers themselves, which reflect the profound impact that summer camp can have: a deep love of nature, enduring friendships, and a safe place to develop confidence and maturity. Since C+CBSF began providing financial assistance in 2004, 319 scholarships have been awarded for a total of $625,441. In 2024, we awarded 33 scholarships for a total of $87,590.
