The mission of child care of the berkshires is to strengthen families through high quality child care, education, support services and advocacy.

Monument square (msq) early childhood and school age program - the monument square early childhood and school-age center provides child care services for families. The center is licensed by the massachusetts department of early education and care (eec) for up to 82 children including infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age-children in seven different classrooms. The program's goal is to provide a caring, safe and enriching environment that promotes each child's physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development, while also responding to the various needs of and supporting each family. A total of 108 children were enrolled during fy2025.

Support services - the supportive services program provides additional support for families of children who are enrolled in child care of the berkshires child care services through massachusetts department of children and families, homeless or parents under 24 contracted slots. This program targets the specific needs of vulnerable children enrolled in either center-based care or family child care. Families who qualify receive services including transportation to and from child care programs, additional observation and assessment of children, family support including individualized family plans, child behavior support and parent support around challenging behaviors, and access to essential resources and referrals. A total of 79 children received supportive services in fy2025.
