Cgc's strong families strong children program (sfsc) partners with other non-profit organizations to provide a coordinated, comprehensive array of culturally competent services, support, and evaluation to meet the unique challenges of military-connected families and their children. Supportive services, including mental health, legal support, and domestic violence prevention, are extended to children and families of veterans, active duty service members, reserve, guard, and the fallen in orange county. Cgc initiated the "dads together" group, adapted for veteran fathers, recognizing that social support and belonging help decrease veteran suicide. Similarly, "valor moms" was modeled after the success of the dads together group. Sfsc providers work closely with veterans and families using the evidence-based intervention calm (counseling on access to lethal means) to identify and secure potentially dangerous items, along with the stanley-brown safety planning intervention which involves creating a safety plan with the veteran to manage suicidal thoughts and behaviors, providing a structured strategy to safely navigate crises. Our newest program, strength at home, provides marital counseling to support military-connected couples.

Cgc has several highly specialized programs with longevity, our child abuse treatment program (chat) has been treating child victims of crime in orange county for over 25 years. Chat clinicians have worked extensively with child victims and their non-offending caregivers, utilizing the latest evidence-based practice treatments, consisting of trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (tf-cbt), parent child interaction therapy (pcit), parent-child care (pc care), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (emdr), which are proven to be highly effective in addressing trauma, abuse, neglect, domestic violence exposure, substance use, as well as chronic depression and anxiety. This program is located in the city of anaheim and inpartnership with jamboree housing, oc head start, st. Jude's community health center, and ponderosa park's family resource center, all striving to improve the lives of children in the community.

Child guidance center provides extensive, comprehensive, and ongoing mental health training to its clinical staff, undergraduate and graduate-level students, community providers, schools, and to the public. Cgc's dedication to training in evidence-based practices and other methods includes: trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (tf-cbt), parent child interaction therapy (pcit), parent-child care (pc care), adult & youth mental health first aid, military family 101, and a full-range of mental health topics geared to help families in orange county.
