Reach out & read (ror) - reach out and read is a national, evidence-based initiative that promotes early literacy and school readiness by giving books to children at regular checkups starting at birth. Parents also receive advice from their nurse practitioner or doctor about the importance of having daily, meaningful, language-rich interactions with their children. Children of bellevue's ror was the first of its kind in new york and has distributed more than one quarter million books since its inception.

Expenses: $77K

Child life - our certified child life specialists are educated and clinically trained in the developmental impact of illness, injury and trauma. They employ a variety of therapeutic methods to help children and their families cope, adapt, learn and develop with and through their health care and life experiences. Throughout the pediatric services, our child life specialists provide developmentally and psychologically appropriate, family-centered interventions including therapeutic play, preparation for procedures, and education to reduce fear, anxiety and pain.

Expenses: $44K

In and out patient pediatric support - the in and out patient departments at bellevue serve hundreds of families a month with routine, acute, and chronic health challenges. Children of bellevue's support, in partnership with the child life team, provides goods and services to these families. Francis loeb child protection - the francis loeb child protection center is a first of its kind in nyc co-located specialty center for victims of abuse within a hospital. With coordinated staffing across disciplines, families that suffer from abuse can get wrap-around services without having to go to multiple locations. Children of bellevue's support provides goods and services to these families.adolescent prenatal program - the adolescent prenatal program provides education and support services to expecting mothers and their families. This includes classes and yoga along with baby care items. Children of bellevue provides the funding for the yoga and care items.
