Our mission is to research, identify, and implement solutions to enhance the lives of children affected by a parent's incarceration.
Programs

Prison nursery project:in 2024, cic continued to conduct research and develop reports to bring attention to issues surrounding prison nurseries in the u.s. And internationally. We coordinated the second annual global prison nursery network symposium in partnership with columbia university. We also further developed our global prison nursery network to include more members and to work together to raise awareness about children's lack of access to justice when they face living in prison with a parent.
Families together:in 2024, cic partnered with the university of minnesota's human rights program to create a seminar and workshops that brought together students, lawyers, policy makers, other nonprofit organizations, and people with lived experience to develop recommendations for initiatives in court systems that center the rights and wellbeing of children.
