Mission
CAFI works to limit the suffering of HIV impacted children and their families through treatment, counseling, nutrition, psycho-social support and other interventions to help them flourish. We bring together global and local resources to provide support to HIV-impacted families focused on comprehensive health and wellness services and risk-avoidance strategies for youth and adults.

In 2022 and 2024, the largest US foreign assistance program to provide treatment and care for HIV+ individuals globally was in jeopardy (PEPFAR). A long-time advocate for and implementer of this funding, CAFI established web-based and virtual networks to share information with African partners on what was happening to the funding in the US, introducing them to US community and faith leaders as partners o provide advocacy for continued funding and education related to the ongoing HIV.AIDS pandemic that threatens to re-emerge without ongoing treatment. Despite much progress more work must be done to reach the tipping point to end its spread.
CAFI leadership organized and attended multiple meetings related to the threat of losing funding for PEPFAR, the largest single foreign assistance health program established to end the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Community and faith leaders were networked and engaged in making the case for ongoing US support for the life-saving program. CAFI's efforts led to a grant, received in December 2024 ($247,000), to continue that work through 2025.
