Mission

It is the mission of the Cincinnati Youth Choir to offer all children and youth the opportunity to experience musical excellence in a creative environment.Participants demonstrate musical understanding, artistry, achievement and confidence through passionate performances and collaborations with premier ensembles and children's/youth choirs throughout the world. The Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) builds stronger communities by creating a comprehensive foundation that supports music educators and develops tomorrow's leaders.

Programs

3 programs

Cincinnati Choral Academy - A free, during and after-school program offering comprehensive music literacy and choral education to 160+ Cincinnati Public School (CPS) students in grades 3-6. These students rehearse twice per week for two-hour sessions. Cincinnati Choral Academy is currently in-residence at 8 CPS Schools, with student attendance numbers on the rise.

Queen City Choir Festival - QCF made a successful comeback in FY25 with 6 youth choirs from across the country hosted by CYC Con Brio choir for a three day festival held at the University of Cincinnati and area venues. QCF features choral education, performances and activities around the Greater Cincinnati area.

Singabration Summer Festival Program - Youth participate in a week of choral music education and performance at a day camp festival held at the University of Cincinnati - College Conservancy of Music with an opportunity to learn from prominent clinicians and develop camaraderie with peers from the community. CYC welcomed 36 youth to the FY25 camp with mentoring and support from a number of Bel Canto choir members. The program schedule will be adjusted for FY26 and CYC anticipates it will again be one of the more successful programs as in past years.
