Chinle Planting Hope

Read in beauty bookmobile: reading empowers adventures and dreams the r.e.a.d. In beauty bookmobile serves chinle and many surrounding communities on the navajo nation. The bookmobile traveled to over 75 school and community events in 2024. Over 2000 library cards are distributed and over 30,000 books have been checked out. It provides four quarterly literacy and stem events and runs an annual summer reading challenge. Cph also runs read at home and is the community partner for the dollywood imagination library. The bookmobile partners with the chinle unified school district and is always accepting book donations.

H.o.p.e. Thrift store: helping others, the planet and the environment the hope thrift store is the only thrift store for hundreds of miles on the navajo nation. It offers furniture, household goods and clothing at extremely discounted prices. The thrift store is a community service by providing goods locally and saves families time, energy and money. It also provides employment and volunteer opportunities.

Elderly support program: the elderly support program grew out of a covid response where over 1200 food boxes were delivered to din elderly during the pandemic. Cph now continues to deliver food boxes to seniors several times a year, distributes food to 3 local senior centers each month and works with navajo solar lights to install approximately 40 to 50 solar light kits each year for elderly that have no electricity. It is an honor to support our wisdom and language keepers

Chinle bike repair shop: the bike repair shop runs in partnership with silver stallion and is the only bike shop on the entire navajo nation it is open one day a week and provides bike repairs for free or at very low cost. Over 140 bike repairs were completed in 2024 and we hope to keep expanding and offering community rides and programming.

Imagination station: the imagination station is the newest project of cph that will be a 3000 square foot learning space full of imaginative play and stem activities. It will offer free play, field trips for cusd, and lots of structured out-of-school opportunities and classes. Cph is also planning to add a freestanding library next to the imagination station, a childrens demonstration garden and outside learning areas.

Community garden: the community garden has completed 2 growing seasons, hosted a family garden party and a cph farmers market and art walk. It will be transitioning to a childrens garden at the imagination station next year.
