Health related: funds were provided to support health-focused initiatives across several countries, including programs that deliver life-saving pediatric healthcare and nutrition services to reduce preventable child deaths in haiti, provide comprehensive, sustainable care for patients with cleft lipand palate deformities in peru; supply eyeglasses to vulnerable individuals in jamaica; and expand practical training in comprehensive family healht to families through mothers, couples, and community member groups in columbia.

Stoves: funds were provided to support the production and distribution of safe, fuel-efficient cookstoves in central america. These stoves replace open-fire cooking, reducing indoor air pollution,improving health- especially for wommen and children- cutting firewood use by about half, lowering carbon emissions, and creating jobs.

These programs were selected to help the poorest of our neighbors in latin america, the caribbean and african countries, overcome the effects of hunger, disease obtain basic healthcare, and receive humanitarian aid in acute situations of need.
