Caps matches animals with screeened adoptiers through counseling, meet-and-greets, and post-adoption support to provide lifelong placements in 2024 caps completed 74 adoptions (dogs:43, cats:31)reducing municipal burden and shelter euthanasia in our rural community. Caps also facilitated foster placements to rehabilitate medical/behavioral cases that are not ready for immediate adoption. Each successful placement gives a deserving pet a second chance and strengthens families across fallon and churchill county.
To reduce intake at the source,caps provides low/no-cost spay/neuter vouchers, microchip/id clinics, pet-care education, and outreach at local events. In 2024 caps sponsored spay/neuter surgeries, microchipped pets, and delivered education sessions to residents. Caps also distributed 2,800 pounds of pet food assistance packages to help families keep their animals, preventing surrender and trauma for both pets and owners.
