Mission
Communities in schools of greater king county (formerly communities in schools of renton-tukwila) (cisgkc) focuses on students who have historically been the furthest from educational justice in elementary and secondary schools within the renton, lake washington, issaquah, and seattle school districts. Their social service professional team work directly inside k-12 schools to address the identified needs of each school and individual students who are facing non-academic barriers to success through individualized case management. Students are referred for a variety of reasons including food insecurity; living in unsafe environments; experiencing some other form of trauma; lack of a caring adult; or disengaged in school.
