The cac's grant from the william and flora hewlett foundation focuses on developing a sustainable model for replication of the cac's community lawyer model to build democracy. The grant from the william and flora hewlett foundation is to work towards a long time objective of the citizen advocacy center (cac): explore and develop a model for launching additional community lawyering offices and build the capacity of the cac to serve as a training and backup hub for launching additional community lawyer offices. Grant outcomes include drafting a training manual, publishing a book that chronicles cac's 30 years, developing standards and criteria for replicating, assessing viable funding options for new community lawyer offices, and much more. The directors involved in this grant have absolutely unique experience related to cac and the content to be generated, and the grant could not be accomplished without their substantial involvement. Director amato is cac's founder, first executive director, has served on the board for 30 years, and has created or improved the concepts directly related to this grant. Director pastika is a former, longest serving to date executive director, has trained and has trained several of the community lawyers and subsequent cac executive directors, and has tested the replication concept formally through the establishment of another independent community lawyer nonprofit.
