Mission

CITTA focuses on underprivileged communities which are considered to be some of the worlds most economically challenged and remote. Our objective is to preserve the culture of the communities we support. CITTA has developed a holistic and adaptable method called the HEED model (Health, Education, and Economic Development). We connect with these communities, considering the lack of access to proper healthcare and educational opportunities and weak or nonexistent economic development that can lead a community into a never-ending downward spiral. CITTA works to remedy the specific needs of a community, to produce an environment of equanimity and stability that provides opportunities and a sense of initiative and pride in its inhabitants.

Programs

1 program

Aatmiya promotes holistic community development through healthcare, education, and economic empowerment. The Dr. Christopher Barley Aatmiya Community Hospital in Sindhuli delivers essential preventive and curative care to remote communities in Ramechhap and Sindhuli and is expanding with a new OB-GYN ward. In the Limi Valley, Aatmiya has established a school offering locally accessible, culturally relevant education, reducing the need for children to migrate for schooling. Through womens cooperatives, Aatmiya also supports the revival of Tsuk-too blanket weaving from local wool, preserving traditional skills and cultural heritage.
