COSTA MESA FOR PARK IMPROVEMENTSOver the past year our Landscape Design team has been collabo?rating with the City of Costa Mesa and Pat West, to engage commu?nity members and partners to develop visions for redesigning and expanding two neighborhood parks on the Westside of the city. Shalimar Park is a pocket park that is designed to spill out into the public right-of-way turning the adjacent streetscape into an engaging place for play. The design for Ketchum-Libolt Park will expand available green space by removing a large unused concrete pad and block wall.
MICRO-UNITS IN LONG BEACHWe continue collaborating with Burnham Development and their various partners on creating a multitude of innovative micro-unit developments in Downtown Long Beach as we collectively seek ways to meet the missing middle of housing affordability. We have submitted to the City of Long Beach for planning approvals of two new compact living communities in the North Pine and East Village neighborhoods in the Downtown. 711 Pine will have nearly fifty effi?cient one-bedroom units while 421 East 4th Street has nearly one?hundred studios, both mixed-income consisting of market-rate and deed-restricted affordable homes. Both proposals have abundant common amenities and outdoor spaces, much of which is located on the top floors, providing residents incredible views of the Southland.
