City Of Good

City of Good provided 18,786 meals through its Fuel Kits initiative, including 12,294 Weekend Fuel Kits for children and medically fragile adults and 6,492 Senior Fuel Kits. These kits supplied consistent, nutritious food for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. These kits were distributed in partnership with Interfaith Sanctuary, the Veterans Administration, Southwest Idaho Area Agency on Aging, and other organizations.

The Food Pantry Project distributed over 45,000 pounds of fresh produce and $22,968 in diverse shelf-stable goods to partner pantries and community sites. City of Good recovered 41,612 pounds of surplus produce from local markets and redirected food from wholesale and donation sources to reduce waste and increase access to nutritious foods. Partner pantries include Boise School District Community Schools, Boise State University, the Veterans Administration, Marsing Community School, College of Idaho, and many others.

The Mobile Market, a partnership with the Boise Farmers Market, provided affordable and accessible farmers market shopping with 403 community stops, serving 2,469 visitors and enrolling 756 new customers. The market expanded access to affordable, locally grown produce and dairy, and supported food benefit programs, including 54 EBT transactions, in neighborhoods with limited access to grocery stores.

City of Good partnered with Charlies Produce, Shamrock Foods, and other distributors to recover and redistribute more than 1,800 pounds of mixed and fresh foods. These collaborations supported regional food recovery, reduced waste, and strengthened the local food economy.

The Counter is City of Goods locally-sourced cafe serving Idaho burgers and fries within the Shrine Social Club, a beloved music venue hosting concerts throughout the year as well as the annual Treefort Music Festival. This venture provided earned revenue for both City of Good and our farm partners. It also provided a commercial kitchen for the production, packaging, and distribution of fuel kits; a home base for the Mobile Market; a storage and processing site for surplus produce to be distributed to pantries; and an educational hub for customers and community members with information about sustainable food systems, local sourcing, and volunteer opportunities shared through signage, printed material, staff representation, and information sessions.
