Mission
Our mission is to dramatically improve the early career outcomes of dc youth and young adults of color by creating innovative programs and by mobilizing employers, educators, and city leaders to create a local, diverse talent pipeline. Our work is to ensure that young people acquire industry-valued credentials; paid, relevant work experience; and social capital.
Programs
1 program
Cityworks dc has three projects that seek systems-level change: the citywide talent pipeline working group serves as the collaborative leader in forging new multiple pathway programs and policies for dc youth and young adults across government, business, philanthropy, and nonprofits. Hire local dc is a coalition co-founded by the federal city council and the dc chamber of commerce with significant support from cityworks dc, launched in april 2021 to drive the development of an employer-driven local equitable talent pipeline. The education and training provider working group builds provider capacity, exchanges best practices, and facilitates feedback between providers and industry. Additionally, cityworks dc engages in state mobilization efforts across the region to build the enabling conditions for strong local talent pipelines and to scale innovative programs with a demonstrated positive impact like youth apprenticeship. This includes work on relevant state policies, planning, and data systems.
