Clackamas River Basin Council

Outreach and education- our education and outreach program connects peoplewith place the clackamas river basin. Our community members are actively engaged in stewardship for the watershed. Watershed health improvements are achieved withcommunity involvement and community investment promoted through education andoutreach. Local community members including streamside property owners, studentsand others receive educational opportunities on watershed restoration andconservation techniques that result in long-term stewardship commitments for theclackamas river watershed. Our community members are actively engaged in stewardshipfor the watershed including tree planting, invasive weed removal such as ivypulling, and adding christmas trees into habitat structures for added protection and food generation for fish and other aquatic species. Thousands of volunteers dedicate their time and talents to watershed stewardship activities, education and outreach activities build awareness and engage individuals from surrounding communities.

Monitoring & assessment crbc collects aquatic and riparian data that isused to inform watershed management and project design. We monitor fish, wildlife,and water quality with community volunteers. We share collected water quality dataand plan for ways to protect and improve water quality in the clackamas river basin.water temperature contributes to maintaining water quality. The organizationmonitors temperature data collection at over 80 sites in the watershed andcoordinates a temperature modeling study with a portland state university graduateprogram. A voluntary pesticide reduction program offers landowners pesticide free orpesticide wise lawn signs for eliminating or reducing their pesticide use based ontheir pesticide reduction pledge. Crbc also is a member of a forest collaborativestewardship group the clackamas stewardship partners that works in partnership with the us forest service mount hood, clackamas ranger district.
