Tartan day at ellis island and the highland games & parade provides scotish rite music, games and food. Tartan day on ellis island is one of the principal scottish events in the united states. The organization successfully collaborates with theellis island immigration museum to coordinate this annual event.programming for thisevent has included exhibits on the jacobites and america. The life and legacy of john muir,and a celebration of the tartan in addition to the performances of scottish artists including pipers,drummers,highland dancers,fiddlers and harpists.
To foster,preserve and perpetuate the education in all related areas of the history,culture, music, language ,arts,crafts,customs and traditions of the highlands of scotland and its influence on the world at large.this has been accomplished through a number of outreach programs,including documentary films,traditional scottish heritiage programing and events. The organization alsoparticipates in programing,scholarships,and awards.the academic and currie symposiums also provide education of the scottish heritage,culture and customs.the organization maintains its educational website of scottish decent and genealogyto promote discussions among clan members. The society has over 3000 members worldwide that gather via the society`s website and special events.
