The clean slate initiative passes and implements laws that automatically clear eligible records for people who have completed their sentence and remained crime-free, and expands who is eligible for clearance.

Marketing and communications program -the marketing and communications program works to shift the narrative around individuals with records, through clean slate public service announcements and by encouraging continuous public engagement. The program also leads its communications table, provides marketing and communications support to state coalitions, and organizes csi's annual convening of key stakeholders. The team also leads the distribution of findings, reports, testimony, research projects, and other outputs that further messaging and support around clean slate automatic record clearance policies.

Research program -csi funds objective, validated research to evaluate the impacts of clean slate policies and inform eligibility criteria, while examining how record clearance affects economic and social outcomes. Additionally, csi develops and shares research on the effects of clean slate policies and policy fidelity. Csi also supports narrative research aimed at exploring the messages and messengers that garner public support for clean slate policies, as well as understanding how different audiences perceive clean slate, public safety, and individuals with criminal records.
