The ambassador project, a partnership with foster source, creates a network of ongoing support for foster and kinship families across colorado. Current or former foster and kinship caregivers act as "ambassadors" building relationships with families in their communities, providing district- specific resources, and hosting monthly events featuring trauma-informed education for caregivers and enriching activities for children. By creating meaningful connections and reducing isolation, the ambassador project strengthens family stability and improves outcomes for children in care. As of year end, we had 11 ambassadors in 10 judicial districts. They held 110 events attended by 2,373 children. The ambassador project is transforming the landscape of foster care support.

Our advocacy efforts for systemic reform of the fostercare system grew beyond meetings with stakeholders and lawmakers. January of 2024 saw the release of rebecoming me, a short documentary about the lived experiences of 5 individuals who navigated colorado's fostercare system. Produced in partnership with better together, it has aired 4x on pbs, 4 private showings and is available online. It has won 4 film awards, been nominated for 3 more including an emmy. In addition, shari shink, ed & founder of cs, has had 7 articles published in numerous magazines, newspapers, & online reaching more than 500,000 readers nationwide. Work continues on our full length documentary which will hopefully be released in 2025/26.
