Mission
To assist the Sheriff of Coconino County in search and rescue missions, disasters, catastrophes or emergencies, community service; to render aid to law enforcement personnel, government agencies, or persons in difficulty as authorized by the Sheriff. To maintain a membership with skills and abilities to safely render aforementioned assistance in Coconino County or other counties of the State of Arizona and beyond as required by the Sheriff. The organization conducted 113 search and rescue missions during 2024.
Programs

The organization conducts numberous training programs to prepare its members to conduct safe, efficient search and rescue operations. Most of the training is led by volunteer members. Trainings include winter vehicle operations, winter survival, personal safety and fitness, map and compass, GPS, tracking, communications and technology, wildfire safety and evacuation, search tactics and litter carry, wilderness first aid, trailer operationsa and towing, alternative night navigation, water safety and small boat operations, ATV and UTV operations among others.
The organization conducts a Preventative Search and Rescue (PSAR) program. Since 2016 a total of 26,900 children and adults in schools and public and private events have been instructed through the program. The goal of the program is to teach people how to respond to being lost or disoriented in an outdoor setting.
