Colloqate Design

The Colloqate Design team will provide engagement storytelling multicultural placemaking for Portland Library and High Schools project. Colloqate will design as a deep expression of care in physical form. Organize and design ensuring that the narratives of the community are vested in the physical structures of the space that are collectively designed.

Colloqate is working with the City of Olympia to complete ground level landscaping create a festival street along with library activation spaces and create connections to a building site. These efforts include Building relationships and networks within the community and offer assistance into other growth opportunities.

The Colloqate Design works to provide concept design for the proposed future Nuestra Voz campus in New Orleans Louisiana. This process is a collective effort to create a development with justice at the core of any future programming and development. In service of this mission both the engagement and planning design process ground itself in the understandings of Design Justice.

MCL Midland Library serves as a cultural landscape for communities of color,low income immigrants and refugees following Portlands city center gentrification. This project serves to address the disparity caused by the citys lack of investment to this area of the city. Colloqate works to create a public amenity that is designed with and built for its East County residents to gather and thrive. Holgate Library will foster a culture of civil pride bringing purposeful sustainable and socially just experiences to the forefront to empower communities of Multnomah County.

MSI City of St. Louis: Colloqate is working with the city of St. Louis to invest in uses for a former jail and the land surrounding it. This project will help build a communitys vision of what the buildings and site could be used for and should be used for. Re-envisioning the empty workhouse space for the community.

The Abolitionist Spaces Project ASP is a project committed to the abolition of carceral spaces and the development of counter carceral spaces through public art and design. Our mission is to develop creative alternatives that promote community cohesion well-being and healing while addressing the systemic issues within the criminal justice system. Our work focuses on advocating for the divestment and reallocation of police funding abolishing carceral spaces and challenging hostile architecture and landscapes.

The Colloqate Design team will provide engagement and vision planning to Portland Public Schools Innovation Lab for the Center for Black Student Excellence CBSE. We see design as a deep expression of care in physical form. We use our design expertise and knowledge to mobilize the wisdom of the community to make these projects genuinely inclusive public amenities. That means starting with justice at the center of this process. This collaboration is a collective effort to create a plan with justice at the core of any future programming and development for the CBSE.

The Colloqate Design team will collaborate with ARO and Scape to provide Design Justice through the concept design for the Launch Charter School Project in New York City. This process is a collective effort to create a development with justice at the core of any future programming concept design and development. In service of this mission both the engagement and planning design process ground itself in the understandings of Design Justice. We will provide the team with groundsetting training in Design Justice to move from a collective reference point.

Prospect Collaboration was mainly graphic design work with a few preliminary site plan drawings for permit. This was for three art installations here in New Orleans. Keith and Chandras piece in the lower 9th ward kai lumumba barrow in Mid-city and the intertribal collective in the Treme. The graphic design work included a series of Map and Guide pamphlets with information on the installation context for Prospect and the Artists of Public Memory program

Remaking the campus: PSU selects Walker Macy to advance its Place Matters initiative The design team proposes a new welcome center colorful paint jobs bold signage and justice- oriented collaboration to transform the university campus and help revitalize downtown.

"Freedom To Grow" is designed as a transformative justice center that supports the reintegration of returning citizens. It focuses on empowerment through education vocational training and community engagement.

Tulane Taylor Center Colloqate Design is a design justice practice specializing in design planning and community engagement. Our services are rooted in a deliberate process that centers the voice of the community throughout the timeline of a project. Equity in every aspect of our work. By our definition equity is a civil and human right and a collective responsibility to ensure that all of a societys shared resources collective wealth private and public institutions can be accessed equally by all of its members regardless of the circumstances of their birth. Colloqate is committed to dismantling inequity inbuilt social and political environments.

Vanport Mosaic proposed research set an important precedent for memory activism within the architecture profession. The emphasis on identifying and advocating for stakeholder histories and the creation of a toolkit for community stakeholders to claim space for themselves are particularly aligned with our mission.
