Queens county farm museum dates back to 1697. It occupies new york city's largest remaining tract of undistributed farmland and is the only working historical farm in the city. The farm encompasses a 47-acre parcel that is the longest continuously farmed site in new york state. The site includes historic farm buildings, a greenhouse complex, livestock, farm vehicles and implements, planting fields, an orchard, and an herb garden. The society maintains the twelve-acre historic farm site and thirty five acres of agricultural land and livestock. The society maintains the farm grounds and preserves the various farm buildings and structures. Projects are ongoing, in order to preserve the historic nature of the site the working farm site is open to the general public.queens county farm museum is open to the public with free admission 354 days per year. Over 500,000 visitors connect with queens county farm museum and its public programs and events. Queens county farm museum supports one onsite farmstand plus two off site farmstands with community partners to bring fresh produce to communities in need. In addition to farm fresh seasonal produce, the farmstand featured live cooking demonstrations and free recipes.
