Common Roots

Common Roots operated 15 affordable rental units in 2024 and expanded a renting cooperative program that empowers low-income households to build financial assets and community ties by working together to care for and govern their homes. The first cooperative members moved into their new homes in July of 2023.

Common Roots engaged in workforce development and educational initiatives to community capacity to rehabilitate and care for homes. In 2023, the organization started working to launch a public benefit construction company dedicted to furthering the organization's mission while providing meaningful, well-paying jobs for low-income people in recovery.
