Mission
Community 43 is dedicated to the recovery of people with mental illness by providing a therapeutic community that offers housing, supported employment, education, and social services. Through meaningful work and relationships, members achieve greater independence, purpose.
Programs

Community resource unit (cru) provided essential day-to-day support services to over 2700 members living with serious mental illness. Cru staff and peer leaders facilitated a structured, voluntary work-ordered day that empowered memvers to engage in meaningful work, build life skills, and foster a sense of belonging and purpose within the community. Key activities included: coordinating daily meals and nutrition education programs, facilitating wellness checks, peer mentoring, and skill-building workshops, assisting members in managing appointments, benefits, and daily schedules, encouraing member participation in community integration, education, and employment services.
Health and wellness: community 43 members can participate in their own self-care as they learn about their own diagnosis, treatment for the diagnosis, as well as alternative methodologies that can be used to help them amintain their own mental health and wellness. Community 43 members can also learn more about managing their own mental health and wellness through a variety of activities thougout the day, both individually and in mutually supportive classes. Classes will be taught to address chronic health conditions as well as managing substance abuse disorders. Community 43 will have opportunities to learn more through physical health activities, through direct services, and in classes whereby individuals learn about their chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity as well as how to manage health conditions to have more healthy and productive lives.
