Facilitating nationwide training and networking opportunities: ncap offers two annual, major training conferences; the annual convention which provides an average attendance of 1,500 participants with approximately 110 different training and keynote presentations, and the management and leadership training conference, providing an average of 500 - 600 attendees with approximately 35 leadership-intensive training opportunities.
Member services: maximizing efficiencies and leveraging the buying power of member agencies and promoting the network. Ncap has cultivated an impressive array of vendor partnerships through which community action agencies are able to reduce costs and access goods and services that may not be available to them as stand-alone entities. In 2024, member agencies benefitted from customized, time and cost-saving services provided by eight formally endorsed vendor partners such as amazon, mutual of america, and the non-profit risk assessment center. Members also received special purchasing rates, donations, grants, and products from dozens of ncap's business partners. Network promotion ncap sets the branding standard for america's community action network and uses a wide variety of outreach strategies to build public support for the work of their local community action agencies. 2024 featured a robust "may is community action month" nationwide campaign, a year-long recognition of the network's 60th anniversary, and a heavy social media presence that generated more followers than ever before.
Certified community action professional: an association sponsored, independently governed professional certification process for individuals employed in the work of community action at local, state, and national levels. Ccap is the premier professional certification and recognition program designed specifically for america's community action employee leaders.
Award for excellence and pathways to excellence: the pathways to excellence program offers a tiered approach that supports community action agencies as they strive for excellence through learning about the thirty-five standards of excellence and undertaking a detailed self-study of their policies and practices to inform continuous quality improvement efforts. The program includes training for peer reviewers of agency self-studies and for staff wishing to lead a pathways to excellence self-study process.
