Mission

Community Center for Immigrants facilitates integration and fosters self-sufficiency in the immigrant community by providing English and Citizenship education programs and immigration legal services. Our goal is to develop the literacy and civic knowledge required to obtain U.S. citizenship and actively participate in American society. CCIs education program focuses on adult education as an essential component of the integration process. Our courses build linguistic confidence encourage the use of English outside the classroom and prepare students for the naturalization exam. In 2022 CCI became Department of Justice-certified to provide immigration legal services. For example we draft and submit documentation for green cards and citizenship prepare clients for the naturalization test and accompany students to their citizenship interviews. Over the last year we have served over 900 immigrants 272 received green card approvals and 100 of achieved US citizenship.

In 2022 CCI obtained Department of Justice certification to provide immigration legal services enhancing refugee access to affordable aid and ensuring fairness in the naturalization process. CCIs experts assist immigrants in obtaining permanent residency such as green cards and guide them through the U.S. citizenship journey. Services include document preparation for green cards and citizenship applications assistance with the naturalization exam and accompanying individuals to citizenship interviews. Notable achievements involve helping 400 refugees gain U.S. citizenship and aiding over 800 refugees in green card applications since starting our immigration services. To address citizenship challenges for immigrants with disabilities CCI offers health services through our legal department. We assist disabled refugees in obtaining medical exam exemptions accessing vaccines and connecting with primary care providers.

CCIs Citizenship education program teaches the language skills and civics knowledge necessary to obtain US citizenship and become an active member of the community. Our courses build personal confidence and encourage the use of English in practical situations outside the classroom. We leverage a team of experienced instructors to deliver educational programming to hard-to-reach limited literate learners. Additionally to overcome barriers to adult education we provide transportation childcare and online classes.
