Mission

Community farmshare is a montgomery county based nonprofit working to create a thriving, connected food system that produces food, health and well-being for people who have the least access to healthy food options, while renewing and protecting the planet by supporting local small scale produce farmers.

Programs

2 programs

Food is medicine (fim) - community farmshare partners with community based organizations, clinics and nutrition educators to support low income residents facing food insecurity and managing diet related chronic disease (and addressing disease prevention in their households). The program includes weekly fresh produce during the agricultural season, supported by nutrition education and one on one motivational counseling to support lasting positive health outcomes. Program participants are low-income, living in communities lacking healthy food access, therefore facing increased risk for diet related chronic disease.

Expenses: $140K

Cfs sells local produce through our food hub services to facilitate nonprofits/community based organizations to purchase local produce for their own food assistance programming through their grant funding. We sell local produce to capital area food bank through their federal local food purchase agreement.
