CSHDC operated a Food Pantry that provided food, with a goal of three meals for three days for a family of four. CSHDC met the food needs of an average of 2,200 individuals a month, including over 900 children, who were able to supplement their diet through the operation of the Food Pantry. During the winter months, November to January, CSHDC operated a Winter Coat Program where we provided over 150 winter coats to community residents, men, women, and children. The organization operated both programs though participation in municipally funded programs. The Food Pantry and the Winter Coat Program were provided without fee to our residents and community.Tax Preparation Program - CSHDC, through participation with the Food Bank of NYC VITA/TCE program, offered free tax preparation services to the community. CSHDC completes two courses through the IRS, Standards of Conduct, and an Intake/Interview to meet the qualification for participation. This year we completed federal, state, and local returns for over 150 individuals and families. The program operates from January to April and is funded by CSHDC through its own resource.
