Mission
Through comprehensive and honest video portraits, we empower defendants to tell their stories to the judge just prior to being sentenced. Amplifying the voices of those often overlooked or silenced by the legal system, we challenge biases and promote equitable justice.
Programs

Judge and Attorney Engagement and Education Program By offering judges a glimpse into defendants' lives and the challenges they face, we aim to challenge implicit biases and stereotypes, ultimately leading to fairer sentencing outcomes. Our success in securing federal funding for video portraits demonstrates the effectiveness of our approach, and we continue to strive for increased support and adoption of our advocacy efforts throughout the criminal justice system. Please see attached for more specific current year accomplishments
Attorney Engagement and Education Program We empowered legal professionals to advocate for improved mitigation for underprivileged defendants who, since being convicted, have made great strides in improving their lives, choosing to be accountable, achieving and maintaining sobriety, finding therapy and pursuing educational goals. By leveraging sentencing videos for their clients, together, we facilitate better outcomes and greater access to justice. Our empathetic approach fosters communication and trust between defendants, their attorneys, and court officials, ultimately leading to more equitable outcomes. Please see attached for more specific current year accomplishments
