Comprehensive Medical Mentoring Program

Clinincal shadowing program: cmmp partnered with medscape education to address critical gaps in dermatology care by nuturing underrepresented minority (urm) college and medical students and empowering current urm dermatologists to mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders. This initiative not only aims to diversify the workforce but also seeks to enhance clinician-patient relationships and improve healthcare outcomes in dermatology for minority communities. In this program, students are provided mentorships, educational resources, and practical experiences in an effort to foster a more diverse and inclusive dermatology workforce that better serves their communities. Upon successful completion of predetermiined program requirements, interns receive a stipend. Additonally, mentors received a stipend for participating. This program included 18 students and 10 mentors.

Pre-med bootcamp: this program aids pre-medical students in the successful planning, preparation, and completion of their primary application, secondary applications and interviews for medical school. Students who are selected will be paired with both a physician and medical student mentor who will help to review/edit the participants amcas application components, review secondary application essays, and conduct mock interviews. Upon successful completion of the program, interns are paid a stipend. This program included 5 interns during the current fiscal year.
