The Mentor Match program connects caring adults with youth impacted by foster care, offering consistent and trusted relationships. In the past year, CFK recruited, trained, and matched 12 mentors with youth aged 13-21 in partnership with Mecklenburg County DSS and other community organizations. This program helped improve youth outcomes in areas such as academic achievement, life skills development, and emotional resilience. CFK also supported ongoing match engagement events to foster community and relational depth among participants.
CFKs Foster Support Pathway mobilizes churches and the community to wrap around foster, kinship, and adoptive families with practical and relational support. Through this program, CFK equipped and activated over 25 churches and over 200 volunteers to serve families in partnership with local child welfare agencies. Support included connection events for parents and families, meals, care packages and gifts, training, as well as tangible support for families in crisis. Additionally, CFK provided training and coaching to community groups and faith leaders to increase awareness and advocacy for the foster care system. The program strengthened over 90 families with ongoing support.
