Ongoing training for community organizations: ctcn has worked with the entire staff at our piece of the pie(opp), in hartford ct, directing a kingian nonviolence professional development training course. Ctcn has also worked with the opp youth project in bringing kingian nonviolence conflict management to high school youth over a six week period. Additionally, we have ongoing work with opp and are developing a nonviolence culture amonst the staff and young people.

Conflict management for police and community engagement the training provides an introduction to the skills, information and application of kingian nonviolence conflict reconciliation that helps build community and police relations. It sets a basic foundation for understanding issues and problems facing individuals, groups and communities. The training explores conflict management concepts, theories, strategies and techniques of the nonviolence methodology. It is a highly interactive, educational experience designed to teach skills and provide a philosophical, cognitive experience. This course is post certified.this training has presented to the new haven police department recruits and the upper command staff. This contract comes from the city of new haven and is renewed over the past 7 years.

The connecticut office of the arts provided grant funds to ctcn to support theforward movement of embedding the arts into the well-established kingianprinciples of nonviolence, and build capacity for teaching and learning kingianprinciples through arts-embedded strategies. The partnership, allowed ctcn todevelop and implement a plan to train teaching artists in the kingian pedagogyand provided opportunities for observation, practice, and mentorship forartists in kingian practice and for ctcn practitioners in integrating the arts intotheir practices.
