Conserve Utah Valley

Legislative engagement:during the 2024 legislative session, grow the flow ran weekly educational trainings to inform constituents and empower them to speak with state legislators in support of or against specific water related legislation. In total, more than 150 constituents participated, which allowed us to engage roughly 50% of the legislature throughout the session. This session, we hope to engage every member of the legislature through this effort.in october 2024, grow the flow and partnering organizations facilitated three candidate forums in utah county, tooele county, and cache county. These forums provided the public with a platform to express their concerns on regional water issues, and helped inform undecided voters decisions on election day. By training community members on how to thoughtfully work with elected officials, we were able to reach new constituencies, civically engage community members, and build sustainable relationships with leaders in the state house and senate.

Conservation: after years of collaboration with state agencies, partner nonprofits, and community members, the provo river delta opened to the public. Conserve utah valley played an important role in this project's success by increasing public awareness and support, working with state and federal legislators, and designing new informational signs for the public to learn about the importance of the utah lake ecosystem. Cuv also successfully raised funds to protect 20 acres of farmland adjacent to the delta under easementthe burr family farmwhich will ensure this important buffer zone remains undevelopment in perpetuity.
