Advocacy and engagement: cii uses its member-approved corporate governance policies to advocate for best practices in a variety of realms. Our policies provide a foundation from which cii advocates on matters of importance to members. They are best-practice guidelines but are not binding on cii member funds. Cii u.s. Asset owner members met twice in 2024 and approved: (1) an amendment to cii's corporate governance policies to support class-by-class proxy vote disclosure by multi-class public companies, (2) a statement on index provider consultation processes to encourage transparent and orderly consultations when index providers contemplate significant changes to their methodologies. Cii worked consistently during the year to advocate for improved corporate governance practices, and to defend shareholder rights and protections, issuing more than twenty comment letters, engaging with regulatory agencies, legislators, and other policymakers from state, federal and international jurisdictions. Cii also facilitated meetings for investor and public company members to engage in private, one-on-one or in small group meetings in conjunction with cii's fall conference.
