Mission

Mission: to advocate for safe, nurturing, and permanent connections to family and community so children who have experienced abuse or neglect have the opportunity to thrive. Significant activities: at casa of larimer county (clc), we provide evidence-based trauma-informed care to children and families in our community who have been impacted by abuse and trauma. Through court appointed special advocate (casa), family connections (fc) and trust-based relational intervention (tbri) programming clc creates safe, nurturing, and permanent connections so victims of abuse, neglect, and domestic violence are empowered to heal and thrive.

Programs

3 programs

Family connections at harmony house: this program provides supervised family time and custody exchange services. Documentation from these services helps the court determine whether its safe for a child to begin unsupervised visitation, or return to the custody of their parent(s) or guardian(s). Families received individualized supportive case management. All staff are trained as coaches in trust based relational intervention (tbri). Tbri is integrated into services for parents. The tbri caregiver package is also offered outside of services to caregivers of children involved in the family connections program. Taking a holistic, family-centered approach, the family connections program has the opportunity to strengthen parenting skills and provide connections to community resources to support the family long after services at clc end. Combining these services makes a real impact on the rates of recurrence of child abuse and neglect in our community. In 2024, 224 children (496 total clients) benefited from 1,898 safe family time visits and exchanges.

Expenses: $400K

Casa of larimer county implements trust-based relational intervention (tbri), a trauma-informed, evidence based model designed to support children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and/or trauma. In 2024, casa of larimer county provided tbri training to 89 caregivers, 136 casa volunteers, and 40 local district professionals. These trainings equip participants with practical tools to build trust, promote healing, and respond effectively to trauma-related behaviors. Tbri principles connecting, empowering, and correctingare integrated into the casa advocacy process and the family connections program to enhance parent-child interactions during supervised visits and coaching sessions. The program strengthens adult-child relationships and fosters safe, nurturing environments, resulting in improved outcomes for vulnerable youth and families in larimer county.
