Mission
Coyote sparks creativity in young people, putting tools in their hands to build skills and forge their futures.coyote central strives to lead with equity in everything we do. We acknowledge that our communities have been adversely affected by longstanding white supremacy and privilege, creating barriers in access to creative opportunities for low-income communities, immigrant and refugee communities, and communities of color.
Programs
2 programs
Cre8 is a 3 year program for 6th-8th graders. It is designed to build community amongst a cohort of deeply creative kids and provide a deeper dive into the creative process. Cre8 1st year is all about individual growth as an artist. Cre8 2nd year is about group growth as artists who collaborate on work for the public. Cre8 3rd year is about a deep dive exploration of personal creativity. Each student levels-up for one final, year long project supported by a 1:1 mentor in the medium.
The public art program engages youth with professional artists to create art works for their community, building social awareness and the pride of community stewardship in our future leaders. Public art projects take place throughout the year.
