The crandell theatre screens films year-round for the general public and provides curated film series, community film showings, and film making programs for area high-school students. It owns, maintains, and operates the historic movie house in chatham, ny, listed in 2017 on the national and state registers of historic places.

Film columbia: originating in 2000, film columbia is one of the region's celebrated film festivals and a nationally recognized venue for independent, foreign, and commerical films. During the ten-day festival, over forty pre-released films are screened, many of which are award-winning entries at prestigious film festivals in europe and the united states.
