Summer Learning Labs: In partnership with The Mind Trust and the Indiana Department of Educations Expanding What Works program CAST facilitates rigorous summer programming for students in Southeast Indiana. These sites are designed to help students recover from learning loss and provide high-impact academic support to prepare for incoming grade level work. In 2024 CAST students averaged 44% learning gains in math and 55% learning gains in English Language Arts. CAST Served 50 students in fiscal year 2023 and will expand to serve up to 300 students in fiscal year 2024.
Teacher Training: CAST partners with the Dyslexia Institute of Indiana to provide training in effective scientific teaching practices for teachers and tutors. Participants can become proficient in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and Multi-Sensory Math. CAST has trained about 100 local individuals who continue to provide the best possible instruction in classrooms and tutoring sessions across the region. CAST also partners with Lavinia Group to facilitate quality professional development opportunities for educators providing academic support in summer programming.
