Mission
Sheltering, educating, empowering children, individuals and families. The crittenton center provides services and life skills to all children, young adults, and families empowering them to lead quality and self-sufficient lives.
Programs
4 programs
Child development division - serves communities in five different locations throughtout siouxland. This includes childcare and preschool education for all income families with children birth age to age 12. A partnership with the sioux city community school district allows for quality, affordable preschool education for 4-5 year olds. A majority of the children served come from low-income families. Our child development programs served 349 children in fiscal year 2024.
Foster care program-supervied apartment living (family development) - teens ages 16.5 to 21 learn life-skills training, guidance, and support needed to live on their own. Served 21 teens in fiscal year 2024.
Resource center - individual and group parenting classes for parents with children from birth to age 17. Provides 6 week and 12 week parenting classes along with support and connection to community resources. Served 1300 children and parents in fiscal year 2024.
Mental health awareness training - mhat aims to reduce stigma around mental health, increase understanding, and equip individuals with the skills to support those with mental health challenges. This program is designed to educate individuals and communities about mental health, helping them to recognize signs of mental illness, respond appropriately to those experiencing mental health challenges, and connect them with resources. Mhat trains behavioral health workers, school and law enforcement personnel, and other interested community members.
