Central American OperationsCA&C is the region composed basically of the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic. In this region, the director of CropLife Latin America deals with the problems faced by the companies that make up the organization concerning market access, the import of their products, and the regulatory aspects governing registration and marketing. In 2024, work concentrated on defending the industry from applying regulations lacking science and technology or openly contrary to legislation, including the attempt to ban products. To this end, the Director of CLLA supported local associations in each country to define a strategy, gather technical and financial resources to implement it, and eventually participated in meetings with technical and administrative authorities to expose the R&D industry's position on issues such as molecule bans or proposals of new regulations for pesticide registration, with the objective that the changes always represent a regulatory improvement.
Regulatorythe central american region is one of our subdivisions (andean and southern cone being the other two subdividions) for latin america; our director there works in collaboration with the national associations in each of the 5 countries to support them to better represent the industry. We worked in the same areas as in the rest of the region, namely, to support and make more visible the stewardship programs, "cuidagro and "campolimpio", and to improve the public and stakeholders understanding of the contributions made by our industry. In addition, the regional director supported local authorities with training and start of the art technologies on the technicalities of our industry so they could be more effective in their role to regulate it.
