Mission
Crude Accountability works with communities impacted by oil and gas development in the Caspian and Black Sea regions, ensuring access to environmental and human rights information and access to justice. We work in partnership with local organizations, international institutions, and individuals on environmental and human rights related issues. We conduct research and writing, training, and engage in partnership activities with like-minded individuals and organizations.

Crude Accountability tracks kleptocracy in the fossil fuel industry in Central Asia and the Caucasus, working with local and regional activists to monitor corruption in engagement with national oil companies, the regimes, and international actors.
Crude Accountability monitors Chinese investments in the oil and gas sector in Central Asia.
General program support from donors and individual contributors enables us to respond to environmental and climate justice issues as needed in the field and at home.
