Fr. John cheng memorial scholarships for laity training taipei taiwan. Ms. Shufeng lee is the recipient of this grant currently studying at bellarmine divinity school fu-jen university taiwan. Ms. Lee is in the 1st year of a 3-year program. She is taking courses in the department of catholic doctrine.

Seeing and helping youth-at-risk passing the torch, hsin chu taiwan. Established under the diocese of hsin chu taiwan this ministry helps at-risk young adults aged 12-25 who struggle with drug abuse gang violence dropping out of school suicide self-harm and depression. Hospitality sports meals and counseling are offered aiming to rebuild self-confidence. In 2023 counseling and psychological support were offered to 114 youth-at-risk. Empowering activities cooking & musical instruments involved 70 participants. Thirty-six high-caring group activities including cultural and intellectual experiences such as visiting exhibitions zoos and indoor sports were offered with great success.

Serving children from 0 to 6 years old with developmental delays and physical or mental disabilities this center developed treatment objectives with therapists and designed individual teaching plans for each child. The funds were used to offset some costs for educare speech therapists physical therapists and occupational therapists. In 2024 the center served 23 children and 5 of them were able to enroll in regular kindergarten.

Dandelion charity scholarship - shaan xi major catholic seminary xian shaanxi china. To support those seminarian students who are preparing for ordination in a few years. These scholarships can significantly reduce the financial burden of theological education allowing students to focus on their studies and spiritual formation. The funds were awarded to 10 seminarian students.

Dandelion charity scholarship - lanzhou jincheng social service center gansu china. Scholarships benefiting high school and college students coming from rural remote villages with limited or no resources and family support were offered to 60 students in the program.

California chinese catholic living camp three rivers ca. This vibrant community of young adults throughout the state of california meets annually for a camp over labor day weekend. Combining spirituality education and fun in a community setting the camp offers talks by a spiritual director small group discussions mass games and more. Friendships and mutual support continue throughout the year. In 2024 60 campers aged 18-39 mainly asian american attended. The funds offset campers fees camp materials and transportation.

Boston college chinese students outreach boston ma. To provide companionship and guidance for chinese students and scholars at boston college and other institutions in the greater boston area. Focusing on catholic and jesuit values and goals and fostering faith culture and life exchange this service helps these scholars and students to contribute to chinas social development and church mission when they return home. There have been 20 in-person meetings in 2023: eight large ones every two months with 45-60 students for two hours and 12 small ones irregularly with 12 students for three to four hours. These meetings were usually held in classrooms lecture halls faculty offices or lounges where catered meals were provided to the participants subsidized by our funds.

Eden house young adults - family & marriage, hebei china. The social service center inspired by gospel values promotes gods original love through support for robust and harmonious families. The activities include once a week womens study sharing group once a month mens meeting; for young families a half-day gathering once a week; seminars and training sessions for seeded families throughout the year. This benefited approximately 200 families young adults 1500. The funds paid for speakers fees room rental and transportation.

Zhenfu youth training program, san francisco ca. This program is designed to give young adults from taiwan a chance to immerse themselves in diverse cultures religious practices and educational systems. In 2023 four individuals between the ages of 19 and 26 were selected: two medical students a government employee from the patent office and a college student majoring in leisure industry. From august 18 to september 5 2023 they visited significant historical sites in san francisco explored silicon valley toured various universities and participated in a three-day retreat with the chinese christian living camp. Additionally they visited the getty museum christ cathedral and mission san juan capistrano. The grant assisted in covering their transportation accommodation meals and admission fees.

Dandelion charity scholarship - xin jiang, xin jiang china. To support underprivileged students from ethnic minorities uyghurs and kazakhs for their education expenses tuition transportation and boarding. This scholarship fund helped 8 college students from financially disadvantaged families.

Emusoi center for pastoralists and hunter gatherer girls arusha tanzania. To provide support and empowerment for those indigenous girls offering them a safe space and enrichment classes that deal with life skills and an intensive program for them to pass entrance exams to enter higher secondary education. The funds benefited 4 students paying their tuition books transportation and other incidentals.

Casa ricci social services - special cases subsidy program, macau china. This grant supported two cases: 1 $5,000 helped a family in xinjiang china where the father suffers from work-related paralysis. The funds covered school fees for two children aged 19 and 15 and a small portion of medical expenses. The remaining $5,000 assisted an elderly woman in a care center in macau who was receiving insufficient government support.

This program provides free optometric services and glasses for patients in need mainly low-income individuals the homeless children and the elderly of all ethnicities and religions. A total of 136 patients were seen 97 received prescribed glasses and 27 reading glasses were distributed. The funds were spent on glasses and transportation.

There are five priests and sisters from china sponsored by maryknoll fathers pursuing advanced programs in biblical studies at catholic theological union and pastoral counseling. The school was established in 1960 by a swiss priest with the catholic bethlehem church and aims to improve the lives of indigenous people and develop their livelihood skills. The schools curriculum includes mechanical engineering furniture carpentry electrical engineering hairdressing and restaurant skills and data processing. The funds covered school fees and supplies for 250 indigenous students aged 11-13.

Caritas taiwan - northern thailand chinese school. This program is under the commission of social development of the archdiocese of taipei taiwan. Caritas taiwan supports 40 schools located among the 100 chinese descendants villages chinese refugees were displaced due to civil war in this area on the northern thailand-china border. Twice a year volunteer teachers from taiwan conduct training programs to improve local teachers in chinese language instruction mathematics computer skills environmental awareness hygiene as well as culture and arts. This fund has been spent on 1 tuition for 450 students aged 7-18 2 10 students studying in universities in taiwan and 3 salaries for 25 teachers. This program impacts the lives of many well being of the community.
