To initiate and facilitate collaborative action toward a just, resilient, and sustainable food system that ensures equitable access for all peoplle to enough healthy food.

Local Food Access: Cumberland County Gleaning Initiative mobilized over 100 volunteers to harvest fresh produce from 32 farms resulting in over 30 thousand pounds of food distributed through 28 patterns to approximately 28,000 people. Our Local Food Access Report documents the quantities of locally produced food strategically used to build nutrition security in our communities.

Expenses: $266K

Local Meat Value Chain: Building capacity in production, processing and markets with stakeholders in the local meat value chain. Training on poultry and small ruminant production includes Health Screening, Pasture Rotation, Enterprise Development and many others. Working with emerging processing facilities to build capacity and connect with local producers. Research markets to identify niche opportunities that smaller producers can address.
