The Dalai Lama Center for Ethics and Transformative Values at MIT is dedicated to inquiry, dialogue, and education on the ethical and humane dimensions of life. As a collaborative and nonpartisan think tank, the Center focuses on the development of interdisciplinary research and programs in varied fields of knowledge, from science and technology to education and international relations. Our programs emphasize responsibility and examine meaningfulness and moral purpose between individuals, organizations, and societies.The Center was founded to honor the vision of the Fourteenth Dalai Lama and his call for a holistic education that includes the development of human and global ethics.

Programs

Transformative Teachers provides teachers with the tools and methods for fostering resilient and ethical young leaders. This program supports two ongoing initiatives to develop ethics and leadership among youth:Young Peace Leaders, targeting elementary and middle school aged children, and Compassionate Young Leaders for young adults in high school and university. Through interactive workshops that engage teachers in discussion, introspection and experimentation, the Transformative Teachers program trains teachers to integrate the development of cognitive skills, social-emotional understanding, and ethical purpose; enabling teachers to make a profound and lasting impact on their students.

The Compassionate Young Leaders - Science, Monks, Technology leadership program comprises leadership and service workshops for young adults, with workshops on energy access for rural communities in northern India and community services projects for a monastic community in southern India.Latin America Satellite Center programs. Support for the Center's operations and managing of ongoing programs in Mexico and Latin America: Transformative Leadership, Transformative Leadership in Judicial System, Transformative Teachers and Compassionate Young Leaders, Ethics initiative and Anti-corruption and Transparency programs. The programs are reflective of and in alignment with the Center's overall vision and mission.India Satellite Center programs. Support for the Center's operations and managing of ongoing programs in India: Transformative Leadership, Transformative Teachers and Compassionate Young Leaders, Ethics initiative and Anti-corruption and Transparency programs. The programs are reflective of and in alignment with the Center's overall vision and mission.Transformative Citizenship is a compassion and ethics-based leadership program uniquely tailored for Law Enforcement Agencies ("LEA") in the US that will focus on empathy, emotional resilience and regulation, and behavioral and cultural shifts.
