Dallas Asian American Youth Orchestra

May 12th, 2024 and may 19, 2024 concert period & rehearsals: all of our orchestras performed at st. Andrew umc in plano, tx. (the three younger groups performed on may 12th, and the older two groups plus our chamber group on may 19th.) some highlights included performances by our symphony orchestra of symphony no. 5 d minor, op. 47, mvt. I: moderato, ii: allegretto, iv: allegro non troppo by dmitri shostakovich, symphonie espagnole in d minor, op. 21, mvt.1 by douard lalo featuring our student soloist kylie hung. Our philharmonic performed pieces including cossack dance from mazeppa by peter ilyich tchaikovsky arr. L. Weninger and symphony no. 8, mvt. 4 by antonn dvok.our chamber group performed string quartet no. 2, mvt.1: allegro moderato by alexander borodin and piano trio k. 548 in c major mvt. I: allegro, mvt. Ii: andante cantabile, mvt.iii: allegro by wolfgang amadeus mozart.our younger groups performed pieces including: hemispheres by richard meyer, perseus by soon hee newbold, and concert piece for strings by elliot del borgo.

November 10th & november 17th 2024 concert period & rehearsals: all of our orchestras performed at st. Andrew umc in plano, tx. I: le caprice de nannette & iv: la tarantelle frtillante by samuel coleridge-taylor.our chamber group performed divertimento in d major k. 136, mvt. I: allegro, ii: andante, iii: presto by wolfgang amadeus mozart and piano trio op.1, no.1 in e flat major, mvt. I: allegro by ludwig van beethoven.our younger orchestras performed pieces including rhythm dances by brian balmages, bravery and grace by george sweet, and danse infernale by elliot del borgo.
