Dallas Bar Association

Section Dues- The Dallas Bar Association (DBA) has 32 sections. Each section represents a particular field of law. DBA members are encouraged to join sections that may be of interest to their specific legal needs. Section dues are collected to pay for educational materials and speakers.

Membership Dues and Assessments - The annual dues paid to the Association by its members are its primary source of support. The dues are payments meant to provide support for the Association in exchange for the general benefits of membership derived from affiliation with the Association, and thus bare a direct casual relationship to the accomplishment of the Association's exempt purposes.

Lawyer Referral Service - The referral service assists the general public by providing a means by which any person who can afford to pay a reasonable fee for legal services may be informed of and referred to a member of the Association's Lawyer Referral Service panel.

Miscellaneous -Various expenses are paid by the Association to generally further bar purposes.

Addressing Services - The Association sells a list of names and addresses of its members only to persons or groups who are (1)running for a political office for which membership in the legal profession is a prerequisite or (2)law firms (comprised of lawyers who are members of the Association) that wish to make professional announcements, provided the content of the announcement is approved by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Association.

Probate Manuals and Legal Forms Sales - The Association sells probate manuals and sells standardized preprinted real estate forms for use in typical real estate transactions and standardized preprinted Uniform Commercial Code ("UCC") forms for use in typical financing transactions.
