Mission
To promote Danish culture and to provide services to seniors. The Danish American Center supports and fosters Danish culture through education and the celebration of traditions, customs, and history.
Programs

Educational Activities at the Danish American Center include Danish Language Classes for adults and children, culinary classes including traditional Danish open-faced sandwiches, bread making and medisterplse, Danish sausage making classes. The DAC has a library, recently re-opened and stocked with Danish Language books and literature, videos and CDs on Danish and Scandinavian culture. Plans to put the library online and begin lending materials are in the works. A book signing was held for Danish author, Anna Eckhoff who shared her experiences working with NGO's, the EU and the UN in war zones all around the world in her book A New Beginning, Life on the Frontlines. Members of the Danish American Center provide translations and notary services. They donate their services, and the funds paid for these are given to the Center.Roger Nielsen held an exhibit of his paintings at the Danish American Center which was well received. The building boasts a wonderful collection of art which is in the process of being catalogued under MN Collections.
Other events include musical performances with the theme "Music on the Mississippi", monthly "Sing-along with Dan Chouinard, participation in the city of Minneapolis Doors Open where tours of the Danish American Center were given and aebleskiver was served to attendees. Many new members were signed up.In addition to the special events and holiday celebration, the Danish American Center is host to several regular activities. Examples include Genealogy studies, folk dancing, a reading circle, Mah-Jongg group who meets weekly, Arts and crafts and general gatherings. In addition to its own activities, the Danish American Center provides a space for meeting of multiple other cultural and ethnic not-for-profit organizations.
