Davis Farmers Market Alliance

FARM VISITS - The Alliance sponsors local farm visits for second graders. Students gain a deeper understanding of the connections among the environment, farming, and where their food comes from by meeting with farmers, participating in farm activities, and tasting a farm-fresh snack. The farm visits support grade level standards in history, language arts, and science.

Waste Reduction - The Alliance and the School District co-sponsor the district-wide reduction and recycling program called rise (Recycling Is Simply Elementary). At each school site a DavisRise leader works with students, custodians, administrators, and staff to implement a customized recycling and composting program. Custodians earn recognition and awards for their recycling work through a peer-nomination process.
