Healthy families is a voluntary, home-visiting program designed to promote child and family development and to prevent child abuse and neglect. Eligible parents enroll in healthy families within 90 days of their infant's birth and may continue services until their child is three years of age. A family support specialist provides the family with support, parenting education and community referrals and collaborates with parents to identify and achieve family goals, to promote parent-child interaction, to establish a safe, healthy environment and to foster early literacy and learning.
